Obōz Footwear is a wholesale brand founded in 2007. Our home, Bozeman, Montana, is an outdoor adventurer’s paradise and is what motivates us to lace up daily to explore the 18 million acres of Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem that surround us. Bozeman also inspired our name: Outside + Bozeman = Obōz. The four points of our compass—People, Community, Foot and Experience—guide everything we do in staying “True to the Trail.” We also plant a tree for every pair of footwear sold, and have since our beginning.

Obōz Footwear is looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to join the team!


Position Overview

The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for a variety of day-to-day accounting duties such as:

  • Manage inventory accounting.  Reconcile inventory valuation to general ledger and calculate Goods In-Transit.
  • Key role in month-end close duties including posting/balancing subledgers to general ledger, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, and preparing/entering journal entries.
  • Manage and reconcile wholesale and ecommerce returns and aging.
  • Reconcile Bank accounts.
  • Manage intercompany transactions with parent company Kathmandu.
  • Manage fixed asset process and book depreciation.
  • Oversee Ecommerce accounting functions and manage sales tax software and filings.
  • Partner with Retail & Education Lead in reconciling Domestic COOP and Partnership Fund programs and book monthly accruals.
  • Create monthly budget to actuals and communicate with department managers.
  • Prepare Ecommerce monthly coupon summary and calculate COGS reclass.
  • Assist in the calculation of month end provision calculations.
  • Preparation of US and Canadian GST/QST tax filings.
  • Support Controller accounting team with other related duties and tasks as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field, such as accounting or finance, with 3+ years of relevant work experience. 
  • Experience in GL account and system reconciliations is required.
  • Fast learner with the ability to learn new systems, specifically ERP systems.
  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment that requires a high degree of multi-tasking.
  • Proficient use of MS Excel to accomplish essential job duties.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentially.
