The Arete Collection is our lightest offering to date, and features waterproof and non-waterproof low and mid heights for men and women. Geared for streamlined performance, they're designed to go longer, faster, and with the support and durability not typically known in a fast hiker.
The Arete boasts lightweight materials in the upper: breathable woven mesh, no-sew TPU overlays and a welded TPU toe cap. For suspension and support, we’ve brought in the A3 Chassis. Its integrated shank reduces weight while providing proper support and flex points. The ESS forefoot plate mitigates over-flexion and protects from stone bruising. Inside, you’ll find our O FIT Insole, along with our B-Dry waterproof/breathable membrane. It’s a true three-season hiker.
We offer two low styles for men and women: the Arete Low and the Arete Low B-Dry (waterproof), in a variety of colorways for each. Our mid heights for men and women are more honed: the Arete Mid in color Charcoal/Woodbine Green for men, and in color Blush for women; and the Arete Mid B-Dry in color Black/Copper for men, and in color Sky for women.
Bearfoot Theory’s content + community manager, Mary Kathryn, recently tested out the new W’s Arete Low on a day hike with a lot of slick rock terrain.
“I loved how grippy the sole was, which allowed me to hike up slick sections of rock feeling stable and supported. I also loved how comfortable the shoes were right away. No need to endure that stiff, painful break-in period.” She told us that, overall, the Arete Low was a perfect mix between lightweight/breathable and rugged/durable. As a first time Oboz owner, she wondered what took her so long to try them out. (But we’re crossing fingers that she’s hooked now!)
Bozeman local and Oboz friend, Luke L, has had the M’s Arete Low for a few months now and gave us this feedback:
“I do like these guys especially for an afternoon hike like up (local hikes) Triple Tree or the M Trail. Lightweight, good support and they are showing no signs of wear other than I feel like they have stretched a bit? ... I say this because I feel like I need to lace them a bit tighter than I did initially. I have no issues spending long days at the shop in these-- concrete floors, gravel log yard, in and out of forklift etc.”
If your spring, summer and fall plans include knocking out miles on the trail, try one of our Arete styles, available at most Oboz dealers.
