Position Overview
The Retail + Education Lead serves as the company leader for all interactions, activities, and strategies for growth of the retail channel. This includes the promotion of the Oboz brand in the wholesale channel and national accounts. Critical to the success of Oboz in this critical channel is the development and delivery of a successful training and education program so that all key sales team members will know how to sell footwear and, more important, promote the key benefits of the Oboz product line.
This position reports to the Director of Brand + Consumer Experience.
Accountabilities:
- Retail Marketing: This includes all in-store activations at Oboz retailers. This is a key function for the company as most of the sales and exposure for Oboz come at physical retail. In-store activations include POP, merchandise, wall coverings, fixtures and promotion of key Oboz stories (cause, fit, service, etc). This will be an effort working closely with Oboz sales teams.
- Coop Advertising and Promotion Strategies: Oboz differentiates itself by its close relationships with our key retail channels. Part of this is working with them on paid media strategies, such as catalog placement, in-store advertising, and event sponsorship. This role will oversee comprehensive strategy development, deployment and monitoring. Developing key success metrics will be important to assess program efficacy.
- Training, Education + Service Department Leadership: Oboz has always been a thought-leader in the world of retail training, education and service. This is and can be in-person or virtually by utilizing Oboz technology platforms. Training is a vital part of understanding the difference in different Oboz lines as well as Oboz’s differences in comparison to other brands. This role will work with our internal and external teams to build and maintain a robust education and training platform. While designed primarily for retail staff, this content can have applications for consumer education as well. This work will be vital to successful product launches at retail by providing the perfect blend of information and assets to support these launches.
- Retailer Events Management: A growing way for Oboz to both reach new consumers and build stronger relationships with retailers is through events. This includes partnerships to attract retailers’ customers to in-person or online events, or to develop franchise events with retail partners. Also, key events like One More Tree need to be re-energized and re-engineered for continued future success.
- Retailer Sell-Through Tools: Robust and exciting sell-in tools help the Oboz Sales Teams more effectively place new product at Retail. Things like digital workbooks, technology briefs and physical tools are all extremely critical to the success of any product line launch.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or other related field. An associate’s degree or certificate in a business or marketing pursuit with 5 to 7 years of work experience in marketing is a viable substitute.
- Direct outdoor industry experience is preferred.
- Strong ability to listen and execute, detail oriented, strong organizational skills, able to deal with multiple projects in a given timeframe, understanding of marketing project flow and graphic design, proven ability to successfully execute major events, deadline/time sensitive, service oriented and able to effectively work with multiple stakeholders.
- Majority of work occurs in an office environment. Time will be spent sitting working at a computer. Travel is required and will vary year-to-year. Lifting of products and displays is periodically required. Work hours during travel may be more demanding and vary from standard working hours.
