About the role…
The role of Sr. Director of Wholesale, reporting directly to our Oboz Brand President and KMD NA based in our office in Bozeman, Montana.
The Senior Director of Wholesale is the commercial integrator and leader of Oboz’s North American wholesale business and a key member of the Senior Leadership Team. This role leads and aligns the strategy and execution of North American wholesale performance while helping shape our global wholesale distribution and growth roadmap.
As a key driver of revenue and wholesale sales strategy, you will lead our expert-led sales model, ensuring that Oboz wins in dedicated channels through innovative selling strategies, high-quality retail partnerships, and a best-in-class field advocacy program.
You own wholesale results, the strength of key account relationships, and the cross-functional synergy required to make Oboz the most recommended brand on the retail floor. By blending commercial rigor with product education and partnership-building, this leader ensures that Oboz’s “True to the Trail” ethos is delivered consistently across North American retail and eventually through our international distributor partners. This role succeeds by enabling cross-functional execution and modernizing how we sell, while keeping decision-making and execution ownership close to the teams. Day to day responsibilities include;
Commercial Strategy & Growth
- Revenue Architecture: Shape and align the Wholesale to the three-year global commercial plan, establishing a distribution roadmap that drives sustainable wholesale growth while protecting premium brand equity.
- Wholesale Innovation: Advance selling practices beyond traditional seasonal cycles through stronger in-season management, smarter inventory optimization, and deeper retailer collaboration that accelerates sell-through.
- Market Share Growth: Identify and activate high-potential “white space” opportunities and strategic partnerships that position Oboz as a leading technical footwear brand in the U.S. and across KMD platform markets (Canada, EU, AU/NZ).
Retail Influence & Commercial Impact
- Retail Floor Leadership: In close partnership with the Sr Director of Brand and Marketing Set the strategy for how Oboz shows up on the retail floor, including training priorities, field coverage, and in-store storytelling standards across priority accounts.
- In-Store Presence & Influence: In partnership with the retail marketing function and Outreach and Education team elevate Oboz’s presence, credibility, and product knowledge at retail so the brand achieves industry-leading recommendation rates across priority accounts.
- Events with Commercial Impact: In partnership with the Brand/Marketing team oversee consumer and retailer events to ensure every activation is strategically aligned with seasonal sales priorities and delivers clear, measurable commercial value.
Enterprise Leadership & Cross-Functional Synergy
- Senior Leadership Team Contribution: Serve as a core member of the SLT, contributing to the overall strategy, culture, and financial performance of Oboz.
- Product & Brand Partnership: Partner closely with Product and Brand leadership to ensure market realities shape product decisions and that brand storytelling translates into strong commercial impact at retail.
- GTM Commercial Leadership: Represent the commercial perspective in the Go-To-Market process, providing product feedback, hind sighting, and competitive insight so the line is built to win in a wholesale-first model.
- Remove friction and connect teams across the GTM process to accelerate execution.
- Sales Advocacy & Support: Serve as the primary internal advocate for the sales force (Internal & Reps), identifying and removing organizational hurdles to ensure the team can focus on territory growth and retail excellence.
Strategic Partnership & Commercial Execution
- Strategic Negotiations: Lead high-level negotiations and Joint Business Planning with key accounts to secure premium product placement, disciplined growth plans, and aligned performance commitments.
- Channel Integrity: Bring a consistent global perspective into the Go-To-Market process to protect Oboz’s premium positioning across territories and distributors.
- Operational Alignment: Partner closely with the COO to ensure Sales Operations and Demand Planning are aligned with market strategy, retailer needs, and in-season execution.
About you…
- 10+ years of experience in the outdoor industry, preferably in footwear or technical product categories.
- Deep experience leading North American wholesale sales, including strategy, forecasting, and performance management.
- Established relationships with key specialty outdoor retailers in North America, with familiarity working alongside international distributors or regional partners.
- Demonstrated ability to set sales targets and manage Risks & Opportunities to consistently outperform plans.
- Proven track record selling consumer products to specialty retailers, dealers, and distributors.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including comfort with margins, sell-through, inventory dynamics, and joint business planning.
- Genuine passion for outdoor brands, product, and the trail culture.
