Designed for and exclusively tested by women, the unique “Main Street to Mountains” line delivers on a long-standing promise made by Obo: many of us women want a boot or shoe that can go the distance but does not look like the footwear equivalent of a monster truck.
With so many advances in footwear technology—from design to materials to construction—it seemed possible to build boots and shoes that are stable and sturdy, supportive and durable, and low profile.
Enter Main Street to Mountains, a series of four models (two mid-size hiking boots and two low shoes) that are built exclusively for and tested by women. That means they have a lower volume than some of our other models. They’re sleeker in design and might have a more exuberant color palette. In other words, they look awesome without sacrificing utility.
These kicks go anywhere, from the trails to the bar, the grocery store to the library.
What makes them so effective?
They all have the Swiftcurrent outsole, a women-specific outsole with lugs that provide ample traction everywhere. Literally. The improved sculpted fit translates into greater comfort and confidence on your feet.
Look closely on the mid-height boots, and you’ll notice the tongue and asymmetrical collar were designed to comfortably articulate with female ankle motion, accommodating for the unique ankle bone locations that are often unaccounted for in women’s footwear design.
And they all have the Oboz proprietary O Fit Insole, which is so supportive, you can kiss your orthotics or after-market inserts goodbye.
Whether you are busting out dawn patrol miles before work, chasing your kids on a nearby path, tooling around town, or getting your work done in the local coffee shop, you are set with the Mountain to Main Street line.
Quick Take: Waterproof nubuck leather and highly abrasion resistant textile, this fashionable shoe offers plenty of support minus the bulk.
Try It If: You like a classic look that delivers all-day comfort. Or if you like to keep your options open; yoga in the afternoon or a hike?
Quick Take: A sporty shoe that’s as at home on the mountain as it is under your desk. Similar to the Sapphire, the Juniper has less nubuck and more bombproof textile on top. The sole grips like a gorilla, and the low-volume fit is light and airy.
Try It If: You want the same fit as the Sapphire with a more technical look.
Quick Take: A mid-size nubuck leather boot that feels like a low shoe, the Sapphire Mid delivers stability and durability without sacrificing looks or comfort.
Try it if: You want an all-around boot for daily walking, work, travel, biking, and more that is going to offer more ankle support than a low shoe would.
Quick Take: Just like the Sapphire but with a tough-as-nails synthetic upper (with some nubuck accents), the Juniper Mid is an all-day, breathable boot perfect for those looking for a low- to mid-volume fit.
Try It If: You prefer synthetic uppers for your boots and want an all-around hiker that also pairs well with dresses, skirts, shorts, and pants (i.e.: everything in your closet). This is the boot to have for everything from spontaneous lunch time hikes to all-day treks in the woods and mountains.
