For every pair of Oboz sold, we plant a tree. Not literally (although at our One More Tree events with retailers, potential customers receive a sapling when they try on a pair of Oboz), but through our partnership with Trees for the Future (TREES).
TREES uses agroforestry and regenerative agriculture to help plant farming families out of hunger and poverty while curbing deforestation. Recently, TREES team members Brandy Lellou, Arianna Huff, and Ashleigh Burgess met with field staff and project farmers across Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda. The TREES team worked with local employees in each country to scout new program sites for TREES' Forest Garden program.
In Tanzania, staff met for field training to better provide farmers with strategic methods capable of improving crop yields and increasing incomes. In Kenya, the TREES team and Kenya staff met with partners, value-added processors, and new and graduating TREES farmers. In Uganda, the team visited current project and various new sites to determine their suitability for Forest Gardens, including degraded banana and coffee farmers who work on hillsides where there is a risk for landslides.
Throughout the trip, the team traveled across backroads, villages, bush, and farms wearing their Oboz Footwear and sent us these pics.
