About the role…
The role of Sales Analyst, reporting directly to our Director of Sales Operations based in our office in Bozeman, Montana. This role is primarily responsible for analyzing internal (historical, future order books, etc.) and external (sell-through, on-hand inventory, industry trends) sales data to identify trends, risk and opportunity.
The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical experience, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to review large datasets to identify meaningful trends. They should excel at transforming raw data into actionable insights and presenting findings in a clear, compelling way that drives informed decision-making and inspires action. Day to day responsibilities include:
Brand and Product
- Embody the brand – be True to the Trail.
- Through brand, Shoe 101 and other training – understand our brand values, core product, what makes our footwear unique.
- Product Knowledge: Understand the product line architecture, end use, and fit well enough to make recommendations to Dealers and Consumers.
Analysis
- Understand the brands Dealers (single location to multi-store retailers, primarily in the outdoor space), product hierarchies, pricing and merchandising/selling seasons as the base for analysis.
- Become an expert-level user of the main reporting tool (Power BI).
- Proactively analyze and explore data to uncover emerging trends, subtle shifts, hidden opportunities and communicate those insights to sales leadership and field teams in a way that informs strategic decisions and supports revenue targets and other KPIs (sell-in %s, sell-through %s, style group mix, etc.).
- Provide analysis on external sales agencies: commissions, seasonal territory goals, etc.
- Work closely with the Director of Sales – reviewing risk and opportunity in-season and for future-seasons, equipping Sales with insights to enhance key account meetings, providing analysis for business development/new market opportunities
- Translate data into clear, compelling stories and visuals that resonate with sales teams—driving alignment, action, and performance.
Reporting
- Design, generate and continuously improve regular reports including Order Book vs. Forecast, Sales Territory Results vs. Goals, Bulk Order Call-Offs, Fill Rates, etc.
- Hindsight Analysis: In alignment with the Go To Market calendar, gather seasonal insights (distribution, product mix, SKU rationalization, pareto analysis, etc.) to share cross-departmentally and inform future product seasons.
- Ad Hoc: As requested, analyze data and generate additional reports to share trends, insights or drive actions.
Sell-Through
- Serve as the main contact for vendor SPS Commerce that provides sell-through and inventory data for select Dealers.
- Maximize the SPS Commerce platform by identifying the appropriate retailer partners
- Maintain and track the SPS Commerce budget.
- Become an expert-level user of SPS Commerce with an ability to review inventory: sell-through, weeks of forward coverage, over- and under- R&O, etc.
Key Accounts
- Work closely with internal and external sales to understand seasonal Key Account plans.
- Lead seasonal data set-up and maintenance for product data, ensuring strong data integrity and seamless seasonal launches.
- Maintain the Key Account Assortment Tracker – giving visibility to product line adoption.
- Monthly, providing a rolling revenue forecast based on trends (bulk order call offs, hard orders, at once cadence, participation in sales (REI Anniversary Sale, for example), etc.
Bulk Order Tracker – select accounts have bulk orders that hold inventory until sales orders are received; track the % sales orders (aka call outs) against the bulk orders
About you…
- Expert-level Excel skills (formulas, macros, etc.)
- PowerBI or other reporting system
- Strong analytical, problem-solving
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in:
o Sales/Revenue forecasting, planning and reconciliation
o Turning data into information for varied audiences
o Problem solving – particularly with data governance and accuracy
o Developing and maintaining professional relationships
o Executing multiple projects on a seasonal basis

Experience and Requirements...
- Bachelor’s degree in business, B.A. in Business or related field
- At least five years’ experience in the outdoor industry, preferably as an assistant buyer, forecast analyst, or retail manager
