About the role…
The role of Senior Accountant, reporting directly to our Sr. Finance Manager based in our office in Bozeman, Montana. The Senior Accountant plays a key role within the Oboz Finance team, owning core accounting processes and ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial results. This role leads the month-end close, oversees critical balance sheet areas, partners closely with Accounts Payable, and supports audits, tax compliance, and financial planning. Success in this role requires strong technical accounting skills, sound judgment, autonomy, and the ability to collaborate well with teams across the business in a fast-paced environment. Day to day responsibilities include;
- Core Accounting & Month-End Close
- Lead the month-end close process and deliver timely, accurate financial results to KMD Brands Group Finance.
- Prepare and maintain all monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Record accruals, provisions, journal entries, and other close activities.
- Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations with KMD Brands.
- Partner with FP&A to support budgeting and forecasting cycles.
- Fixed Assets, Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Oversee the full fixed asset lifecycle, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.
- Maintain depreciation schedules and policy-aligned documentation.
- Manage inventory cost accounting, related reconciliations, and COGS reporting for accuracy and completeness.
- Accounts Payable Oversight & Transaction Integrity
- Partner with the AP team to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and proper coding of AP postings.
- Review AP output for alignment with accounting policy and resolve discrepancies as needed.
- Support process improvements that strengthen the integration between AP and core accounting.
- Audit, Tax & Compliance
- Prepare schedules, documentation, and support for half-year and year-end audits.
- Ensure audit timelines and reporting requirements are met.
- Own US regional tax compliance for Oboz, including sales tax and coordination of income tax filings with external providers.
- Serve as the primary regional contact for tax matters, with oversight and direction from Group Tax as needed.
- Uphold internal controls, accounting standards, and company policy.
- Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls across core accounting processes.
- Support ERP enhancements, data integrity work, and system testing as needed.
- Standardize and strengthen month-end and reconciliation processes.
- Cross-Functional Partnership & Business Support
- Partner across Finance (FP&A, AR, AP) and with key business partners in Operations, Supply Chain, and Sales.
- Provide accounting insights that support operational decision-making and data accuracy.
- Assist with additional accounting or finance tasks as business needs evolve
About you…
- Strong technical accounting foundation with the ability to navigate ERP systems and complex financial data.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities with accuracy.
- Self-starter who takes ownership, anticipates needs, and follows through reliably.
- Team-oriented communicator who partners well across departments.
- Sound judgment and the ability to explain accounting concepts clearly to non-finance partners.
- Comfortable managing routine tax compliance processes with support from Group Tax as needed.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Handles sensitive financial information with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working within an ERP system
